Standalone ECU Commissioning
Base-map setup, sensor calibration, I/O verification, trigger sync, timing-light verification, first start, idle, fuel, ignition, protections and final validation.
Start intake →Standalone ECU commissioning, no-start diagnosis, turbo and supercharger calibration, drivability work and dyno tuning—backed by nearby dyno and installation partners when the project needs more than calibration.
FEF Performance focuses on understanding the hardware, proving the ECU inputs and outputs, getting the engine operating correctly, then calibrating it under controlled load. When the project needs mechanical work or dedicated dyno time, partner businesses are close by.

Start intake →For projects that never started, stopped running, changed hands, or arrived with an unknown calibration. Old files, logs and previous tune history are reviewed before changing the map.
Submit project →Fuel-pressure verification, wastegate/boost-control commissioning, ignition and lambda calibration, heat management, protection logic and repeatable load progression.
See project types →Dyno-only services are available, or combine dyno time with live ECU reading/editing. Engine swaps, installs and selected standalone ECU installations are available through local collaboration.
Meet the partners →These are examples of the kinds of performance projects FEF Performance can review. Exact ECU, firmware, hardware condition and requested scope are confirmed through the intake before booking.
VEMS and other supported standalones, supercharged or turbocharged combinations, inherited projects and drivability work.
Wastegate strategy, boost control, fuel pressure, lambda, ignition, torque delivery and engine protection.
Base calibration correction, fueling, ignition, bypass behavior, heat management and repeatable power delivery.
FEF can handle ECU commissioning and calibration while JP's Performance supports engine-swap and installation work by project quote.
A good handoff should explain what was wrong, what changed, what was accomplished and what the next level of the build would require.
“I had a 1997 VR6 supercharged Jetta on VEMS that hadn’t run in over three years. I had honestly given up hope. After dropping it off, the car was alive and driving again within a week. What stood out most was not just getting it running, but taking the time to explain what was fixed, what had been accomplished, and what the next steps would be to take the car to the next level.
FEF Performance, Good From Far Garage and JP's Performance are independently operated businesses that collaborate on selected projects. This lets customers access ECU calibration, dyno capability and mechanical/installation support without pretending one business performs every trade.
Family-based, veteran-owned standalone ECU commissioning, no-start diagnosis and dyno calibration. Continuing education includes HP Academy VIP EFI coursework and technical resources.
Dedicated dyno services for testing, data collection and collaborative tuning work. The dyno operator brings hands-on dyno experience and has attended Holley EFI training.
Custom engine swaps, performance installs and project-based mechanical work. JP's Performance and FEF Performance also collaborate on selected standalone ECU installation and commissioning projects.
Training matters, but so does process. FEF Performance uses a structured approach built around hardware verification, safe first start, repeatable data and controlled dyno progression.
FEF Performance is being built around direct communication, careful project screening and working with nearby performance businesses instead of sending every project hours away.
The website is the primary intake system. Email/PDF forms remain available as a backup.
Vehicle/build information, goals, previous tune history, known problems and readiness checklist. Upload old files, dyno sheets and logs when available.
FEF confirms scope, ECU support, missing information and whether the Advanced Supplement, dyno-only service or partner mechanical support is needed.
Accepted projects receive the final service agreement through DocuSign. A 25% booking deposit secures the scheduled dyno slot.
Critical safety and hardware checks are verified before meaningful load. Mechanical or electrical faults are corrected or held rather than tuned around.
Hourly/facility rates are shown separately from common standalone project estimates so customers can understand what they are paying for.

No-start, fresh build, inherited tune, new turbo, supercharger, engine swap or a running car that simply needs the calibration finished—the Standard Intake is the fastest way to get the right information in front of FEF Performance.
