Standalone ECU work begins with exact hardware and data: engine configuration, injector characterization, fuel pressure, ignition hardware, trigger pattern, sensor calibration and the current/previous ECU files.

Before meaningful load, the ECU must agree with the physical engine. Crank/cam synchronization, commanded versus measured ignition timing, plausible sensor data and stable fuel pressure are treated as gates rather than assumptions.

Once the foundation is credible, the calibration progresses through start/idle, base fuel, ignition, transient behavior, boost where applicable, protections and final validation.
